Types of Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT encourages individuals to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. It promotes mindfulness and behavioral activation to increase psychological flexibility.

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

This approach is grounded in attachment theory, focusing on interpersonal relationships and the patterns formed during early childhood. It aims to build or rebuild secure relational foundations.

  • Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Recognizing and respecting individual differences rooted in cultural backgrounds, this orientation aims to offer support that's mindful of cultural nuances, ensuring services are relevant and respectful.

  • Eclectic Therapy

Rather than sticking to a single therapeutic approach, eclectic therapy integrates elements from different techniques based on what will provide the best benefit for the client in their current situation.

  • Feminist Therapy

Focusing on the sociopolitical context that affects an individual's life, feminist therapy emphasizes empowerment, equality, and addressing power imbalances in therapeutic settings.

  • Gestalt Therapy

This approach places emphasis on personal responsibility and focuses on an individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist-client relationship, and the environmental and social contexts of a person's life.

  • Logotherapy

Founded by Viktor Frankl, logotherapy explores the human search for meaning. It suggests that finding purpose in life can help individuals overcome suffering and challenges.

  • Mindfulness

Rooted in Eastern meditation practices, mindfulness therapy encourages awareness of present thoughts and feelings without attachment or judgment, helping individuals react more calmly to stressors.

  • Motivational Interviewing

A client-centered counseling style, it's aimed at promoting behavior change by helping clients explore and resolve their ambivalence.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

Stemming from psychoanalysis, this therapy aims to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, helping individuals unravel, experience, and understand their true deep-rooted feelings.

  • Psychoeducation

This approach focuses on educating individuals about their conditions or situations. It offers strategies and tools to cope, allowing for informed decisions about treatment and daily activities.

  • Strength-Based Therapy

Instead of focusing on problems or deficits, this therapy emphasizes an individual's strengths and resources, fostering resilience and promoting a positive outlook.

Navigating Drugs and Alcohol

Delving into our relationship with substances can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. The term “addiction” looms large, akin to a black hole—mysterious, intimidating, and often misunderstood. In a world where the culture of drug and alcohol use is as omnipresent as the air we breathe, taking a step back to evaluate our relationship with them can feel unnatural and uncomfortable.

But here's the thing: I’m not here to label you or map out a journey you didn’t sign up for. Instead, I aim to be a compass, guiding you through your exploration and helping you understand the landscape of your experience.

Let’s explore:

  • Histories: Dive into personal or familial narratives of substance use. Understanding our past is like reading the stars; it can guide our present decisions.

  • Reflections: An introspective look at your engagement with substances. Your curiosities, concerns, or memories, be they recent or ancient.

  • Queries: Have specific questions about drugs? Let's unpack them without judgment. Just as a telescope puts the planets in focus, knowledge can bring clarity to your concerns.

From my personal vantage point: I've chosen a path of abstinence. It's my preferred orbit, one that keeps my world balanced. However, every individual's journey is unique, and my mission is to support yours.
